The city’s origins date to 1866, when Sebastian Schertz, an immigrant from Alsace Lorraine, France, bought 307 acres of land and settled in the southwestern corner of Guadalupe County, which is now part of present-day Schertz. He developed a farming and business enterprise which became the heartbeat for this small town. In 1876, one of the largest additions to area came when the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad was built through the town. Sebastian Schertz owned and operated a general store when the railroad was constructed. In 1882, the first post office was established.

Today, Schertz has a population close to 35,000, which is a great size, but the city and surrounding small towns make up a community of 355,000 residents, which means you’ll have big city conveniences near your new home in Schertz, TX. The Parklands is close to Randolph Air Force Base and the city of Schertz, in a trade region of 55,000 people.
